Samsung Galaxy S5 which is going to be one of the biggest smartphone launches of 2014. People are all so eager for this next Generation Smartphone. Only a fortnight is left for New Year celebrations to start and with that the countdown for Galaxy S5 will start. At this point of time, there is very little confirmed information as to what Samsung has planned. Whether or not, the handset in talks will be making to the market in first quarter of 2014.
The most rumoured release date for Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is to be around the annual assembly of WMC (World Mobile Conference) which will take place in the end of Feb. If going by the past records, a pattern can be noticed in launch of smartphones by Samsung, especially flagship Galaxy series phones. They are released with the time gap of 1 year. So the rumoured release date for S5 matches with this time frame.
Galaxy S3 is the only smartphone by Samsung, which is highly commended for its unique style and top notch hardware, although some minor problems were later observed the operation system which was being used in, Jelly Bean but was later updated with an improved version.
The predecessor phones of S3 were Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S, they were actual trend changers. Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 were the primary smartphones of Galaxy Series and were greatly accepted by everyone. They were top smartphones in their range and the introduction of very user friendly operating system was done in them.
Samsung’s current flagship handset, Galaxy S4 was launched last year which although came packed with a huge number of features. Samsung did remarkably good in the commercial market and if we crunch the numbers, an estimated 20 million Samsung Galaxy S4 were sold within two months of its launch. Even with this remarkable sales record, it was unable to make any mark in the history and was actually a terrible failure with so many flaws and poor quality of features. This was also the case, due to high customer expectations. But the launch of Galaxy S4 did one good thing for Samsung that it turned the table of innovation towards them making them one of the most hawk eyed Smartphone manufacturing company today.
Now rolling back to the main topic of conversation of this article, which is Galaxy S5 and its Specifications. This time Samsung will not leave any page unturned and any socket un-switched. With top of the class hardware in use and brilliant new technology being introduced, this may very well be the smartphone we have all been dreaming about.
Samsung Galaxy S5 specs
Although very less is known about the Samsung Galaxy S5’s specs and what we are writing is based on reports coming in from various parts of the world and statements made by Samsung’s representatives. However, one thing is certain now that S5 will come with a 64-bit processor and this has been confirmed by Samsungs’ co-CEO Shin Jong-Kyun, according to Korea Times. The statement made by co-CEO which came in news was “next smartphones will have 64-bit processing”, which is a clear indication of S5 powered with 64-bit processor.
Yet another Confirming news by Stephen Woo, the president of Systems SI at Samsung electronics was that the company is taking a “two-step approach” to developing the 64-bit chip.
According to Mr. Woo, the firm’s plan is to develop the 64-bit chip based on designs from ARM. Once the technology is successfully mastered, company will concentrate on designing its own chip.
The chip will be named as Exynos 6, which will be the next edition of previously used Exynos 5 chip in Galaxy Note 10.
A Snapdragon 800 CPU with the clock speed of about 2.5GHz which is by far the highest CPU frequency ever introduced in any mobile device will be integrated in Galaxy S5 making it an even more powerful smartphone.
The biggest feature of Galaxy S5 will be its display. If going by the rumours, S5’s display will be of 5 inches and marked with the benchmark resolution of 2K (2,560X1,440 p) which is twice better than current 1080p full HD display. Even the pixel density is accordingly matched and with and 560PPI you can only imagine how sharp the display will really be.
Now about the camera quality of Galaxy S5, it is expected to feature a 13-16 megapixels camera also supported with the technology which is currently being cooked at Samsung’s R&D department. According to Samsung Tomorrow, A new sensor technology is under production which will have its main focus on enhancing the camera quality so as to produce sharper pictures with ultra clarity. This has been achieved by minimising electrical crosstalk and physically separating each pixel. It is rightly named as “ISOCELL Sensor” as it will separate each pixel into small cells for better images.
A 3GB RAM (Random access Memory) will be provided which will be enough for smooth functioning of 64-bit processor chip. Galaxy S5 will require a good battery backup and for that a 4000maH battery will be used in it.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Body Design
Few months back a News came in about Samsung’s major step that it is planning to move on from polycarbonate body for its phones and will introduce its first Full Metal Smartphone. This move by Samsung is taken, possibly due to they have been under a lot of criticism about cheap plastic body for phones with such high cost.
This rumour is still not confirmed but our resources tell us that the company has sent their best of engineers to Vietnam to investigate the feasibility of making smartphones with aluminium and magnesium chassis. There is a lot hanging upon this rumour as people are now expecting to step up their game and to bring out phones which are truly value of the money.
Let us hope for the best and wait for Samsung’s comeback with an all new Galaxy S5 next Generation.
